The only fishing charter service available in El Puerto de La Libertad. The adventure starts early in the morning departing from Playa Majagual where you are instantly immersed in the local marine culture. The boat trolls along the cost where you get the opportunity to take in the beauty of the Salvadoreña costline and ventures out around ten miles off shore.

This is one of the largest pre-Hispanic archaeological sites in the country, and it is named after the hacienda where the ruins were discovered. Excavation work began during the 1940s and is on-going, and the site is managed by FUNDAR -- the National Foundation of Archaeology of El Salvador. El BOQUERÓN National Park is one of a kind in El Salvador since it is located in the crater of the San Salvador Volcano. This volcano is composed of 3 peaks. The Jabalí peak is 1300m asl, the Picacho is at 1959m asl and finally the Boquerón peak which is 1887m asl. The crater is approximately 450m deep and 5km in diameter, thus the name El Boquerón which means “wide mouth” as you can see in the picture here, the name was appropriately given. The volcano is now dormant and it last erupted in 1917. This is one of the Parks in El Salvador with the coolest temperatures. It has an average temperature between 15C and 23C, but it can sometimes dip to an overnight temperature of about 4C to 5C. This place is just breathtaking. It’s good to get there early so you can take enough time to hike the trails around the lookout points which are about 5km in total. There are resting areas along the way, but believe me, you’ll be so overtaken by the scenery that before you know it, you’ll be done with your hike! The more adventurous ones also have the option of hiking right down to the crater with a guide and enjoy the spectacular view. If you are not up to the challenge of hiking down to the crater, the scenery from the lookout points is just as astounding. The 5 different lookout points offer different angles of the crater, the Ilopango Lake and even the Izalco volcano in the department of Santa Ana, on western El Salvador. There are also some coffee shops here where you can enjoy a fresh cup of Salvadorean coffee and try some of the delicious local pastries (to get some energy for the hike back!) Hiking along the lookout points, visitors can catch sight of some interesting creatures like the national bird of El Salvador – the Torogóz (just a pretty little thing isn’t it?). You will also see foxes, toucans, tepescuintles (agouti paca – a type of rabbit-sized rodent found from Mexico to Paraguay), countless species of butterflies and so much more.
